Post-doctoral position at CESCUP – VICLIM
We are pleased to announce a 3-year postdoctoral position within the VICLIM research project, hosted at the Center for Social and Cultural Psychology (CESCUP), Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB), under the supervision of Olivier Klein and Paul Bertin. The university is located in the vibrant and diverse city of Brussels, in the heart of Europe.
About the project
VICLIM investigates the conditions under which perceiving climate change as a threat translates into public support for climate policy. Drawing on the concept of collective victimhood, the project develops a novel theoretical framework to predict support for both adaptation and mitigation policies — with a particular focus on contexts where other threats compete for public attention. The project is funded by the FRS-FNRS as part of the WelCHANGE program.
Profile sought
We are looking for a motivated researcher with:
• A PhD in Social, Political, or Environmental Psychology
• A strong publication record in relevant areas
• Expertise in intergroup relations and/or social identity (an asset)
• High proficiency in quantitative methods and statistical software (e.g., R)
• Experience in open science practices.
• Excellent communication skills in English (French is a plus)
Note: Applicants must not have lived or worked in Belgium for more than 24 months in the 3 years preceding the start of the contract, and must have defended their PhD no more than 8 years before the start of the position (this time can be extended in case of pregnancies). They will be expected to be present in the lab most of the time but limited teleworking is possible.

The position is funded for 3 years (renewed annually), with a net salary of approximately €3,000/month in line with Belgian legislation, including full social and medical benefits. Women and candidates from underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply.
